Throwback Thursday: The Game – Hate It Or Love It (Feat. 50 Cent)

The Game’s debut album, The Documentary, has been dubbed a classic by many critics and one song that really helped achieve such a high status is the forever recognizable Hate It Or Love It. Featuring a back-and-fourth hook with 50 Cent, the former G-Unit members-turned-rivals perfectly iterate the rags-to-riches dream that they both actually lived.

The song peaked at #2 on the Billboard Hot 100 charts in ’05 and stayed there for five consecutive weeks. The song in front of Game for those five weeks? 50 Cent’s smash hit Candy Shop. How ironic.

Hate It Or Love It was nominated for a total of 4 awards in 2005 & 2006, including Best Collaboration at the ’05 BET Awards, Best Rap Song at the ’06 Grammys and Best Rap Video at the ’05 MTV Video Music Awards.

A true classic from a truly classic duo that, unfortunately, we’ll likely never see on the same song again. Long live the original G-Unit crew!
