Frank Ocean continued his Channel Orange tour last night, as he performed for the sold-out crowd at The Wiltern in Los Angeles, California. The numbers are in and Frank Ocean’s debut album Channel Orange has sold more than it was projected to sell. The album, which was released on iTunes last week, was projected to sell 110-125k in his first week, but Frank surpassed those numbers and moved a strong 130,945 copies. This landed Channel Orange at #2 on the Billboard charts. The physical form of the LP is now available in stores so it will be interesting to see the numbers next week. Frank Ocean surprises everyone by releasing his debut album Channel Orange a week early, and here is one of the highly anticipated tracks from the project. This is the Andre 3000-featured record titled Pink Matter. You can purchase the album right now on iTunes and the physical copies will hit stores on July 17th.
Frank Ocean will be a special guest tonight on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, and there is a “big announcement” to be made on the show. This “big announcement” was leaked early by the people who were in attendance for the show’s taping earlier today.
The news was that Frank’s new album Channel Orange will be released exclusively on iTunes tonight at showtime (12:35 EST), one week before the July 17th physical release. The other tweets stated that Frank will be performing Bad Religion, a new song from the album.
Reps at Def Jam have stated that the decision to move the Channel Orange release date up was just made today. Remember, Frank loves to release things as a surprise and FrankOcean.net reported that Frank said he wanted to release the project as a surprise. Will you be purchasing the album tonight?
