Kendrick Lamar Reveals "To Pimp A Butterfly" Album Cover

Well, well, well. After months of anticipation and hearing the rave reviews, Kendrick Lamar’s King Kunta has finally surfaced online.

The song, which serves as track #3 on the upcoming To Pimp A Butterfly LP, is a unique, complex record that is a true testament to Kendrick’s game-changing artistry. Perhaps the most important element regarding the uniqueness is the atmospheric production, which is handled by TDE’s Sounwave.

Before judging the record, it’s a good idea to keep in mind that Kendrick likes to revolve his albums around a storyline. Hearing track #3 without hearing the first two is the equivalent to skipping a couple of chapters in a book.

    You cant ever expect an artist of such grandiose and prestige such as Kendrick to remain in stagnancy by attempting to recreate previous albums. Kendrick is a highly dynamic artist and I dig the fuck out of this song. I can’t wait to listen to the full thing.

    I am a huge fan of Kendrick, I have listened and loved all of his albums but this song doesn’t do it to me.

    Maybe others will like it (which I hope) but I am not a fan. Anyone feel the same way? Or am I weird here?

      feel you hundred percent. love kdot. i really enjoyed i and blacker the berry too but im not a huge fan of this song. in context to the rest of the album maybe ill enjoy it more but first listen im not overly impressed.

      You’re not the only one. Nothing about the song moved me. With that said, I’m all for artists evolving, but keeping an open mind doesn’t magically make the song sound better.
